Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

1. Overview

MathOpen (mathopen.com) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. MathOpen is a content site and does not require account creation or login.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information directly. When you visit MathOpen, our hosting provider (Railway) may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This information is used solely for security, performance monitoring, and diagnosing technical issues. We do not sell or share this data.

3. Cookies

MathOpen stores a single item in your browser's localStorage to remember your light/dark mode preference (key: "mo-theme"). This is not a cookie, is not transmitted to our servers, and contains no personally identifiable information. If you use ad networks on the site (such as Google AdSense), those third parties may set their own cookies subject to their own privacy policies.

4. Third-Party Services

MathOpen may use the following third-party services: Google AdSense (advertising), Google Fonts (typography loaded from Google servers), and arXiv/external RSS feeds (content sourcing). Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns.

5. Analytics

If we use web analytics, we will update this policy to reflect that. Currently, MathOpen does not run a dedicated analytics service beyond server-level logging by our hosting provider.

6. Children's Privacy

MathOpen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Data Retention

Server logs retained by our hosting provider are governed by their retention policies. We do not retain any additional personal data.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Because we collect minimal data and do not require accounts, most requests can be addressed by clearing your browser's localStorage. For any other requests, contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
